Procedure of complaint
PROCEDURE OF COMPLAINT
If you beleive that the treatment received by a therapist goes against the dontology, please, notify the ACTMD about it.
What are the procedure?
At first, you should verify
the membership of the therapist to the Association Canadienne des
Massothérapeutes. Of course, an intervention of our part turns out
impossible in the case the therapist is not accredited by
the ACTMD.
Why lay a complaint?
In every case you where you do
not feel at ease with a therapist, the first step is to notify him
about it. By consultingthe code of ethics of the ACTMD, you can notice
if there was a misconduct on behalf of the therapist. If there is
any doubt, you can call directly at the ACTMD.
In the case that you believe indeed that a mistake has been commited, you should complet the complaint form of the ACTMD. In order to procede, the complaint must be summit by written and signed..
Hoe does it work?
You must answer all the questions
on the form. You must also identify wich articles of the code
of ethics have not been honored. Then, you should tell us in
détails, your version of the facts.
The process is then engaged by the disciplinary counsil. The therapist will be convened by the council and will also invied to give his version of the facts.
It will of couse be defended to him to contact the complainant.
What the council will do?
The council will study the
file. There is an investigation and all the necessary tools
are provided.The council will perhaps communicate with both parties
in more than one occasion.
Once the verdict has been made, the therapist can make an appeal of the decision if others elements are added to the file.
If there is penalty (suspension, radiation or other) the ACTMD réserve the right to inform the public about it, the way choosen by the ACTMD.
